I was born in 1963 in Cheshire and have spent much of my life in various parts of the county, I have also lived in London and Manchester. For as long as I can remember an observational tendency has been one of my defining traits, now I am an ‘observationalist’ with a camera --- well that is how I like to define my approach to photography. I’m not that interested in constantly adhering to a single subject or style as I find that I can be inspired by just about any subject in any circumstance and treatments can vary from a conventional ‘strait play’ to the abstract and experimental. Details interest me but so too does the ‘bigger picture’ though I think a curious gaze is always prevalent. Someone once described my early photography as being akin to a form of ‘visual Haiku’ --- I have never forgotten that and keep on re-iterating it ad infinitum :) I have some academic training in photography and the arts generally and have spent much of my life variously employed in media industries.
