For emerging photographers, internships are often par for the course and frequently serve as a source of inspiration for future endeavor. In Lewis' case, the inspiration was a bit out of the ordinary. "After completing my Photography BTEC at Thames Valley University, I applied for various photography jobs as a studio assistant or trainee photographer but didn't hear a thing back from any of them. Whilst trying to decide upon the direction I should take, I was offered the opportunity to work as a photographer on a cruise ship." But the story takes an ominous turn… "I spent my contract on the cruise as a junior photographer, however in reality, it involved me dressing up in a dog costume, as a pirate and other 'characters' to let people take photos with me. That experience really lit a fire under me and gave me a clear focus; when my contract was finished I decided to put all of my energy and talent into creating my own photography company". Whilst in college Lewis completed commissions for Citroen UK on WRC GB, Goodwood Festival of Speed, product launches and company celebrations. In addition Lewis is the official photographer for the Bracknell Hornets and Slough Jets Ice Hockey Clubs, Reading Canoe Club, Reading Rowing Club and Reading Cycling Club. Lewis has had works displayed in magazines, books, newspapers, on the web and also in ice hockey arenas. Lewis has worked tirelessly to develop his own style of photography across all disciplines including sporting events, weddings and presentation evenings, maintaining a professional approach to delivering images that suit the needs of each individual client. Lewis continues to accept a variety of commissions in many different disciplines and looks to expand his portfolio and experience in the photographic field.
